Drive for Science

October 19, 2017

Hello March for Science – Houston family!

We hope to find you well after the catastrophic hurricane our city (and State) experienced. Recent events have left us all exhausted, helpless and with unexplainable loss. Families who have lost their homes or belongings in the storm are focused on rebuilding and having access to basic items. Children are especially vulnerable in times of disaster, we would like to lessen this burden from families with a little fun for little (and big) kids.

Plans are in motion to organize a STEM-based supply drive to benefit those who have experienced loss from Hurricane Harvey. A blood drive will also be hosted, blood donation is critical during events like the one our city recently experienced.

Please consider donating science kits or any kind of hands-on learning item within your budget that would help a child further their love of science while allowing them to be kids during this traumatic time. We also encourage the donation of new or gently used science books (remember, within kid’s grasp). School supplies are also welcome.

We have set up an Amazon Wish List HERE with items you may purchase and have shipped for those who are unable to make it to our event (or you can use it for some inspiration!).

If you are able to donate blood, please pre-register HERE The first 20 people to register to donate blood will receive a free March for Science – Houston reusable water bottle to be picked up the day of the drive. The blood drive will be hosted by MD Anderson Cancer Center Blood Bank and each donor will receive a commemorative MDACC T-Shirt, juice and a snack.

We are currently working out the details of location, time and date, but we aim to host the Drive for Science at the end of October, on a Saturday. Thank you for your support! ‍ Hope to see you there!
